  • Toil vs Rest

    Here’s a wee teaser from Phil’s notes:

Jesus talks the talk when it comes to the Kingdom of God, and he also walks the walk.

In every miracle situation the people did what they could and failed to succeed.

    But when Jesus arrives.

    BOOM.

Here’s a challenge for all of us:  we come to church and we hear the Preacher talk about God and His amazing Truth.  We hear about the Kingdom of God but do we live it?

The disciples had Jesus with them on the boat but they only turned to him as a last resort – they cried “we are going to die!”

What position do we naturally take when we face a storm?

    • do we try and deal with it in our own strength?
    • or do we turn to Jesus and his answer?

    Here’s a quote I read this week:

“Safety lies not in our distance from danger, but in our nearness to God.”

And that’s from a soldier who was fighting the war in the Persian Gulf!

Friends, that’s the difference between Toil and Rest.

  • The Key to Overcoming Lack

    Connections Church, Taumaranui

Phil speaks in response to his morning message on Poverty Mindset, and delivers the key to overcoming lack in your life.  You can break free!

    Here’s an excerpt:

Our position of adoption means we are royalty.

    The choice we have:

    • to operate from a place of insecurity based on the accusations of the enemy
    • liberally and abundantly release as a channel for God’s resources.

The heart of generosity, free of the affects of poverty, says not, “can  I afford to give?” but,

“what have you given me the privilege to do?”

  • Dealing with Poverty

    Connections Church, Taumaranui

What do you do when you’re asked to speak on the subject of Money and God asks you to speak on Poverty?

You face it head on and tell it like it is!

    Here’s the key point:

Poverty is not an economic issue, its an issue of the soul.

  • Culture of Honour

Phil shares a powerful message on Honour that is likely to challenge you to the core!

If we began to regard each other with the significance that God Himself regards us, imagine how life would change!

This is how we should treat each person in our family, in the community and even those who are not so easy to get along with.

We do this all the time with our kids, we encourage them and tell them they’re going to be awesome when they grow up.  So why do we stop doing it with grown ups?

  • Kingdom Dynasty

    God’s People – in God’s place – under God’s rule.

What is this amazing Dynasty that we are a part of?  Phil leads us through some examples of men that have gone before and left us a legacy, a faith legacy, that means we are part of a Kingdom Dynasty.

  • The Mustard Seed

Phil has a look at the Parable of the Mustard Seed, as told by Matthew and recorded in chapter 13 of his gospel.

    Here’s a mind-bender for you:

    *  The seed is the product of the plant

    *  The seed is the means by which the plant is reproduced

Now think, what does the seed represent and what does the plant represent?  Listen to this message and be challenged!

  • Faith is an action word

In this session Phil looks at how we walk out our faith.

    Here’s a teaser:

When a Hebrew person talks about Faith they use the word “Emunah”.

Strong’s Hebrew Dictionary tells us that this word is an action word meaning to support.  It means if I have faith, I will support by doing.

This places the action on the one who has emunah, faith, the one who “supports God”.  If I have emunah, I will act to support God.  That means I will do what I can to support God’s will.

Another definition puts it this way:

To have faith in God is not knowing that God exists or knowing that he will act, rather it is that the one with emunah will act with firmness toward God’s will.

    Enjoy!
